Fashion Council Germany and the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises host the official Opening Dinner
Berlin, July 02, 2026:
On Thursday evening, Fashion Council Germany and the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises welcomed guests to the Opening Dinner marking the start of this season's Berlin Fashion Week. A longstanding tradition in the official Fashion Week calendar, the networking event took place for the first time at a unique off-site venue rather than in a restaurant.
"Over the past seasons, Berlin Fashion Week has brought the work of its designers ever deeper into the fabric of the city—making it visible in the country's leading cultural institutions and at iconic landmarks such as the Red Town Hall, Tempelhof Airport, and high above the city on the Berlin TV Tower. Now, with the opening dinner at the Grand Orangery of Charlottenburg Palace—where Der Berliner Salon will also open on Friday—we continue this story: fashion becomes tangible as an integral part of culture, history, and society," said Christiane Arp, Chairwoman of Fashion Council Germany.
"Berlin is not only a place of creative freedom, but also a major business hub for the fashion industry. Innovative start-ups and fashion labels, established companies, and thousands of professionals shape this sector and make an important contribution to our city's economy. Berlin Fashion Week showcases this strength and brings it to the world. It connects design with entrepreneurship, and the creativity of local talent with international competitiveness," added Michael Biel, Berlin's State Secretary for Economic Affairs. "Our ambition is to continue creating the conditions in which sustainable innovation can thrive through our support, enabling Berlin to further strengthen its international appeal as a fashion destination and maintain the renewed relevance it has achieved."
This season, the Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace welcomed 230 guests from the worlds of fashion, media, politics, and society, including Kozue Akimoto (Model), Carlo Bellmann and Keith Metcalfe (eBay), Michele Beil and Jale Richert (Richert Beil), Iris Berben (Schauspielerin), Edward Buchanan (Perfect Magazine), Declan Chan (Content Creator), William Fan (Designer), Franziska Frosch (Elle Germany), Alfons Kaiser (FAZ), Florence Kasumba (Schauspielerin), Manuela Kampp-Wirtz (Burda Style Group), Wana Limar (Creative Director), Nadja Reusch (Airbnb Germany), Angel Nemov (Business of Fashion), Janina Lin Otto (Holistic Foundation), Eva Padberg (Model), Caroline Rush (UNation), Hadnet Tesfai (Moderatorin), Valentin von Arnim (Iris von Arnim), Kerstin Weng (Vogue Germany), Arashi Yanagawa (John Lawrence Sullivan) und Bobby Kolade (Buzigahill). Following opening remarks by Christiane Arp (Fashion Council Germany) and State Secretary Michael Biel (Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises), guests gathered for an evening of conversation ahead of the upcoming edition of Berlin Fashion Week.
We would like to thank the official partners of Berlin Fashion Week, Airbnb and Martini, as well as the team at the Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace, for their support.
